As the nation’s revenue collector, the Gambia Revenue Authority was established by an Act of the National Assembly in 2004 thus merging the Customs & Excise and Domestic Taxes Departments which were operating independently of each other. This was done for the purpose of maximizing revenue collection and also bring about economic sovereignty and self-reliance as a country. Ever since the Authority has been performing exceedingly well and as a result, GRA mobilizes about 20% of GDP and 80% of Government revenue.
As a service provider, the Authority continues to strive in meeting the needs of its esteemed customers without whose support and cooperation, revenue mobilization will be a difficult task.
