The Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) is pleased to announce the participation of a high-level delegation, led by the Commissioner of Customs on behalf of the Commissioner General, at the 32nd Meeting of Directors General of Customs of the West and Central Africa Region, held in Freetown, Sierra Leone, from 4th to 8th May 2026.
The event brought together regional Customs experts, heads of Revenue Administrations, and private sector representatives from across the West and Central Africa bloc of the World Customs Organization (WCO). Discussions focused on key regional developments relating to border security, trade facilitation, and the sharing of experiences and expertise in various Customs-related areas.
The theme of this year’s meeting, “A Customs Service that Protects Society Through its Vigilance and Commitment,” was eloquently highlighted by the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, H.E. Julius Maada Bio, during his remarks at the opening ceremony.
During the experts’ meeting, GRA representatives served as rapporteurs and also delivered a presentation on the topic: “Coordinated Border Management: Reconciling Security and Trade Facilitation.” The presentation took center stage during the proceedings and generated high-level discussions among participants on the subject matter.
In addition, it is worth noting that the GRA currently chairs the Finance Committee of the WCO West and Central Africa Region. In this capacity, the Authority presented a comprehensive report on the financial status of the organization.
The GRA is honored to be part of this important regional gathering and to participate in high-level expert discussions on pertinent regional trade matters. This engagement reflects the Authority’s commitment to working collaboratively with partners and fellow revenue administrations across the region to drive sustainable progress, strengthen regional cooperation, and promote innovation in Customs administration.
