At the heart of the 6th Belt and Road Initiative Tax Administration Cooperation Forum (BRITACOF), held in Kathmandu, Nepal, from the 9-11 September 2025, the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) made a significant impact through the presence of its Deputy Commissioner General, Mr Essa Jallow, who represented the Commissioner General as both keynote speaker and panelist. The DCG’s address captivated a distinguished audience of global tax leaders, including representatives from international organizations, tax authorities, policy experts, academia, and business leaders under the theme “Shared Progress in Taxpayer Services for a Better Business Environment”.
In a compelling keynote address, the DCG highlighted Gambia’s transformative journey in enhancing its Taxpayer Service Product Portfolio a strategic initiative that has redefined the country’s tax landscape. By prioritizing taxpayer-centric services, the GRA has cultivated a more transparent, responsive, and growth-oriented tax environment. The DCG emphasized how these reforms have not only improved compliance and trust but also fostered economic development through a more enabling fiscal climate.
These contributions positioned Gambia as a proactive and significant player in the global tax reform initiatives supported by BRITACOM.
BRITACOF continues to serve as a vital platform for cooperation among Belt and Road economies, enabling jurisdictions to collectively address emerging tax challenges, exchange best practices, and celebrate progress. The DCG’s participation underscored Gambia’s commitment to international collaboration and its readiness to lead by example.
The GRA’s presence at BRITACOF 2025 not only elevated its international profile but also reinforced its dedication to building a tax system that is inclusive, efficient, and future-ready. As the global tax community moves forward, Gambia’s strides in taxpayer service and digital innovation stand as an inspiration of what is possible through strategic reform and visionary leadership.
