Customs Operations Unit

Customs Operations is the core unit within the Customs and Excise Department which oversees and cuts across the entire functions and systems of Customs. This Unit comprises all Customs entry points or border stations such as the Banjul seaport, the Banjul International Airport, Yundum as well as seven other land border ports around the country.

Therefore, you do not have to conduct all your imports and exports at the seaport or airport. You have the great opportunity to also conduct your import and export activities by using any of our border stations. The unique advantage the Gambia has is that we border only one country, Senegal and so all procedures, protocols and processes are the same at any of the border stations.

Our border stations are located in the following towns and villages:
1. Amdallai,
2. Farafenni,
3. Soma,
4. Bansang,
5. Tanji,
6. Jiboro,
7. Basse

All of these stations are manned by well-trained and experienced Customs officers who are very happy to attend to you in line with the core values of GRA – Professionalism, Integrity and Fairness. You are reminded to present your official and authentic import or export documents such as invoices, packing list and other relevant documents to assist in the verification and valuation processes so as to avoid delays.

The Customs Operations Unit is headed Deputy Commissioner James W. Johnson, who is equally available to you for any clarification or assistance you may need.
