The legal unit is responsible for the  prosecution of all tax cases and defaulters/offenders in Court, or using Alternative Dispute Resolution means of settling cases, drafting of customs  and tax based laws, regulations, administrative instructions, directives and contracts of the authority, offering high quality legal opinions and advice and interpretation of all revenue and customs laws, regulations serving as liaison between the Authority and the Judiciary, the Bar and other government departments in all legal matters.

In addition, the Legal Unit also arranges the business of the Board including meetings and the records of such meetings and conveying Board decisions to departments and units affected by Board decisions and maintain custody of the common seal of the Authority.
